Please join the Annual Fun race that is dedicated to the memory of Larry Klein. The only requirement is that everyone must have a life jacket on while racing and register ahead of time so a Portsmouth Rating can be calculated. All boats will start on the same starting line at the same time
This is our 15th anniversary and we are taking measures to see that our Adult Learn to Sail program continues to be the premiere adult sailing program in the area. We continue to feature the best lake access, instructional training, flexible sessions and prepared boats. There are a few openings left in our program. If you know of anyone 18 or older that wants to learn how to sail or has it on their bucket list, spread the word about our program.
A new Ships Store was added to the Crescent Website. Click on the Home tab and then select Ships Store to purchase Crescent Merchandise at any time.

Results from the May 12 MISSA Tier 3 High School Team Regatta are posted to ISSA (the National Scholastic Sailing Site).
With challenging conditions, including forced delays due to serious lightning storms, we were able to pull off a 4 series rotation in both A and B divisions. Volunteers on both land and water did a yeoman's job making this a fun and safe regatta for the 100 or so high school boys and girls competing.
The CSYC race committee, mark sets and rescue boats really earned there money being on the water with no breaks for hours in cold water, rain and wind shifts. We had 6 certified race officers helping on the water! (all from CYSC)
The HS LCR received wonderful compliments from the Coaches, Parents and Sailors. Fun stories abound.
The Great Loop is a system of waterways that encompasses the eastern portion of the USA and part of Canada. It is made up of both natural and man-made waterways, including the Atlantic and Gulf Inter-coastal waterways, Great Lakes, Mississippi River and Tennessee waterways. The entire loop is approximately 6,000 miles long.
So, who’s going? - - Grace Pytell and Emily Gazalle
Grace grew up at Crescent. Her grandparents were members starting in 1954 and her parents Ann and Mark in 1985. Grace and Emily both went through the Junior Sailing Program together and now after college are taking the big step to take on this journey.
They left on Sept 14th on the family boat, a 1983 Columbia 29. They saw it fitting to rename the boat with a proper renaming ceremony at their farewell party. New name is “Elpis” - in Greek mythology it is the name of a young woman who was the personification and spirit of hope.
We wish them a rewarding and memorable adventure – best of luck girls!

At the DRYA Awards banquet, our PC Loretta Rehe was awarded the esteemed Clogg Trophy. This is a Lifetime Achievement trophy awarded only when a worthy recipient is identified. Lifetime achievement awards are given to individuals who have made contributions of outstanding significance in their field. Spend only a few minutes thinking about Loretta and her positive accomplishments at Crescent and the DRYA and you will conclude she is well deserving of this award. Loretta has made a lasting impact on the sport of sailing, with leadership in the ALtS, Junior programs and DRYA. Congratulations Loretta on a well deserved trophy and a huge thank you for your contributions.
