Dave Grover joined Crescent in 1985.  He and his son Jim have raced together since 1986, on Dave's S2 7.9, Prime Time.  They won a number of regional and national championships.  This past year, Dave achieved a remarkable accomplishment to receiving Overall Honors in both the Monday Double Handed series and the Thursday GPFBC series.

Congratulation to Dave and his crew for winning best in class in both the Monday Double Handed series and the Thursday GPFBC series.

Regatta Recaps

Adult Learn to Sail Season Wrap-up

This year was once again a very successful year for
the Adult Learn to Sail program. Many thanks to PC
Loretta Rehe for her enthusiastic efforts in making
this a very sustainable program for the club. Support
from 18 instructors and 4 powerboat operators
provided excellent coverage for our 32 students. We
had a very enthusiastic group of new sailors. They
were often down for a second class on Saturday, for
extra tiller time.
Ten students competed in our annual regatta which
took place on August 27. There was steady wind to
test their newly learned racing skills. A good time was
had by all with 7 races completed and the results are
shown below.
1st place Phil Easter & Scott Juchartz
2nd place Rhea Nichols & Paul Asker
3rd place Melissa White & Rich Green
4th place Andy Gretschman * Quinn Warwick

Larry Klein Memorial Regatta

We held our 22nd annual LKM Regatta on Memorial Day with 28 entrants. The traditional Cal’s won the day. This year we set up a shorter double triangle and went around twice, make the crew’s work for it we thought. Weather was perfect and 1st Place went to the Rozelle Family on their Cal 25 and 2nd went to Ross Nuechterlein on his Cal 25 and 3rd went to Bob and Pat Cazabon on their Cal 20. We took a group photo of everyone pointing to Heaven to thank Larry for giving us a perfect weather window to complete the race. Just after the race, awards and picnic were completed in came a 30 knot puff with some rain. The weather was all Larry; it is incredible that we have been able to run 22 years in a row without having any race stopped due to bad weather.
